Student accommodation

Helping students find
a room across Europe.

We built a multilingual student housing website from the ground up, connecting its room search to internal availability systems. Delivered through an agency partner, the work covers frontend and backend development, performance optimisation and ongoing maintenance.

The brief

Help students find a room in a new city.

The client provides student accommodation across Europe. Its website helps students explore locations and properties, often while preparing to move to a different country.

Working through an agency partner, we were responsible for building the frontend and backend from the ground up. The scope included 10 languages and custom integrations with the provider’s internal room availability search.

The build included performance optimisation, and we continued to maintain the website after launch. The provider needed development support for the site once students were using it.

The goal

Bring accommodation and availability into the same search.

Students need to understand where a property is and whether there is a room available before deciding what to do next. The website needed to connect its public search with the information held in the provider’s internal systems.

The website needed to support 10 languages for its international audience. Performance optimisation was also part of the development work.

Connect room availability

Support an international audience
Build support for 10 languages so students could use the website in different languages.
Keep the website responsive
Include performance optimisation in the development work and maintain the website after launch.

Our approach

Building the website and its internal connections.

We built the frontend and backend, including the connections to the provider’s internal systems. The public pages and room search were part of the same development project.

Custom APIs connected the public room search to the provider’s internal availability search. This supplied the website with the room information held by the business.

  1. Frontend and backend development

We built the website from the ground up, covering the public interface and the backend functionality needed to support it.

  2. Migrate content from more than 15 websites

We migrated content from more than 15 separate websites into the new site. That existing information became part of the multilingual website and its connected room search.

  3. Multilingual functionality

We developed support for 10 languages so the website could serve students across its international audience.

  4. Internal availability APIs

We created custom integrations between the website and the provider’s internal room availability search.

  5. Performance and maintenance

We carried out performance optimisation as part of the build. We continue to maintain the website after launch.

The outcome

A multilingual website with connected room search.

The delivered website brings student accommodation information and internal room availability search together. Students can explore the provider’s properties through a multilingual website, with availability information supplied through the API integrations.

The migration combined content from more than 15 websites in the new site.

Our work covered the complete frontend and backend build, including performance optimisation. We continue to provide maintenance for the website through the agency relationship.
