Independents, commuters and out-of-hours trade
Surbiton’s station is the art-deco one from the 1930s that people stop to photograph, and the town trades on much the same character. Maple Road is mostly independents — coffee shops, a bookshop, small practices. Victoria Road is the high street, where those sit alongside M&S, Sainsbury’s and Boots. There is a monthly farmers’ market on Maple Road, and a town centre where people shop on foot.
It is also a commuter town, on a fast line into Waterloo. Which means the website is doing the selling during the hours you are shut. Enquiries can arrive at eleven at night or over a weekend. If the site cannot take the booking or at least acknowledge the message, it waits until someone opens the inbox.
For a team of two to twenty where nobody owns the website full time, the deciding factor is rarely the design. It is whether whoever is on the front desk can change the opening hours on a Monday without raising a ticket.

That is who we build the editing experience for. The handover call is with the person who will actually use it, rather than with whoever signed the invoice.
Can you connect the site to our booking system?
Usually. Tell us which one at brief stage. If it has an API we integrate with it; if it does not, we will say so before you plan around it.
Can we meet in person?
Yes, for discovery and handover when it helps. Day-to-day work still runs over email, calls and a shared board so nothing depends on being in the same room.
Our current site was built by someone who has stopped replying. Where does that leave us?
More often than not there is a way back in, but it depends on what you still hold. We need the domain, the hosting login and whatever else you have. If something is genuinely lost we will say so and price the rebuild rather than pretend otherwise.
